Erin has financial, operational and strategic planning experience working as an independent consultant advising clients from early stage ventures to mature mid-market companies. Prior to that, he spent several years working in crisis management and corporate turnaround services, service as advisor to, or directly on, executive management teams across several industries. Erin has a BSBA, a BA in Economics and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Chief Operations Officer
Jon is a business executive with a wide breadth of experience across several technology industries. Jon has held a variety of executive roles within smaller private firms to fortune 150 companies. He has built and led global multi-million dollar business units from ground up, the strategic management of M&A teams and the formation of multiple global accounts. Throughout Jon’s career he has excelled at building and mentoring teams that are highly focused on producing value for customers, partners, and investors, while identifying untapped market opportunities and driving significant top and bottom line revenue growth. Jon holds his BS in Engineering, MBA in Global Management and is a graduate from several Executive Programs such as the Emerson Executive Leadership Program.
DR. MICHAEL ESCUTI
Chief Technology Officer / Co-Founder
Michael is a leading liquid crystal and photonics expert pioneering the development of polarization gratings, geometric phase holograms, and devices/systems using them. As Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at North Carolina State University, he pursues interdisciplinary research topics in opto-electronics, telecom, flat-panel displays, and well beyond. He has been recognized by the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE, 2011) and the Alcoa Foundation Engineering Research Achievement Award (2011) for his work at NCSU. He earned his PhD and MS degrees at Brown University and completed a Post-Doc at the Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands). As of February 2015, he is a named inventor on 21 issued and 52 pending patents. He has published more than 108 refereed journal and conference publications, has presented 30 invited research talks, and has co-authored 1 book chapter. He has also served as expert witness in patent litigation before the US Patent & Trademark Office and US International Trade Commission.
Jason is a results-oriented leader in the optics field with more than 20 years hands-on experience developing advanced optical system architectures and products at IBM, Lucent Technologies, LightSpin Technologies and ImagineOptix. He helped create the HoloBright™ concept out of a desire to enable a large, low cost display image not available with todays portables like PDAs, gaming, cell phones, and iPod™ devices. Jason received his BSEE from Clemson University and his MS in Optical Sciences from The University of Arizona. He holds one U.S. patent with one pending and is also a member of both the OSA and the SPIE, as well as a member of the IEEE.
DR. JIHWAN KIM
Jihwan is currently a Research Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at North Carolina State University. His research and professional interests are in optics and photonics, especially on using liquid crystal and functional polymers to investigate and develop transformational diffractive optics and polarization-independent devices and systems, including high-efficiency/portable liquid crystal displays, ultra-efficient energy directing/beam steering for high energy applications and laser communications, and VIS/IR/MIR hyper-spectral imaging polarimetry. He has published more than 20 refereed journal/conference publications and 2 issued and 3 pending US patents. He was a recipient of the SPIE (International Society for Optics and Photonics) Scholarship in Optical Science and Engineering in 2010, and served as a president for the NCSU chapter of SPIE in 2011.
DENNIS H. KEKAS, PE
Chairman / Co-Founder
Dennis is a former IBM Development Division Executive with 30 + years experience developing disruptive high performance computing, networking and consumer transaction systems. Currently he serves as Associate Vice Chancellor for North Carolina State University’s award winning Centennial Campus responsible for industry/agency partnerships, economic development and directing Engineering’s Institute for Next Generation IT Systems. In addition, he serves as Vice Chairman for North Carolina’s Partnership for Defense Innovation and is on the Clemson University Research Foundation board. Previously he was president of the Clemson Alumni Association, has been awarded the Distinguished Service award, holds eight patents and has received numerous patent and managerial excellence awards.
